Proposal Information

Description:

OTDA is a recognized as a national leader in the field of Human Services, innovative social welfare programs and is the state agency responsible for administering all public assistance programs in New York State. OTDA's Division of Information Technology (IT) is responsible for managing applications supporting NYS's core human services eligibility and benefit issuance programs
The intern will report to the manager of the Quality Management Center (QMC) and work closely with the testing and monitoring team within the group. The intern will have the opportunity to learn many of the aspects of overall application quality including, but not limited to:
Functional Application Testing - automated and manual testing procedures, and will lean the concepts of testing and be able to create and record testing scripts.
Application Load Testing - automated load testing scenario and script theory and creation. Not only will the creation of scripts be addressed, in addition the intern will learn how to interpret the results of testing and the correlation of test results with performance monitoring.
Application Performance Monitoring - applications today have many moving parts and the value in application performance monitoring is to be able to evaluate all the moving parts. Interns will work with the QMC team to implement monitors, evaluate results and troubleshoot issues in technologies including: Windows, Linux, ASP.Net, JBOSS, Web Sphere, MQ Series, SQL Server, and Oracle.
Application Release Management - the QMC team also governs the release management policy within the OTDA IT organization. Working with the release teams to protect our users from inadequate releases and ensure the highest quality possible. The intern will work with the team to learn the different aspects of release management including best practices and release risk management
