Description:
Office of Transitional Services is responsible for monitoring the operation of the following programs: Transitional Services, Aggression Replacement Training (ART) Program, the Inmate Program Associate (IPA) program, the Community Lifestyles Program and the Inmate Program Associate Program.
Tasks:
- Develop a general understanding of Transitional Services Program.
- Study a specific Transitional Services Program at selected DOCCS facilities.
- Review and summarize program reports and analyze data gleaned from monthly reports to identify areas in need.
- Construct a model to address identified needs given "real world" resources.
- Development of a methodology to aid the Department in analyzing program success in relation to stated goals.
- Write a report summarizing all findings from this project.
- Orally present and defend findings to a panel of Criminal Justice professionals.
TS Staff shall:
- Determine how well each defined task is accomplished.
- Measure how well the intern applied their academic leanings to presented challanges.
- Examine how well the intern analyzed reports, drew valid conclusions, and formulated new interventions.
- Evaluate the intern's organizational skills and attitude.
- Evaluate the oral presentation with regard to how well it summarized and defended the intern's findings.
- Finally, TS Staff would equate the overall quality of work to a letter grade representative of university level work, and communicate with university staff advisors as necessary.
Typical work hours: minimum of 3 hours per week, 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
